KAJANG, January 16, 2025 – The National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA) has marked a new milestone for 2025 with the biggest paradigm shift by transforming the Remand Detention Centres (PTR) or lock-up into Drug Assessment Centres (DAC) which function as centres to facilitate screening and assessment of drug and substance abusers.
This transformation is part of the Madani Sedang Direalisasikan mission through the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) by improving the roles and functions of the facilities from merely detaining drug and substance abuse suspects (OKT) to now providing them with proper treatment and rehabilitation.
The Director-General of NADA, Dato’s Ruslin Jusoh, said that the DAC transformation will allow the process of OKTs to get treatment and rehabilitation from NADA faster without relying solely on the pathology results.
According to him, the implementation of DAC is a proactive step towards our efforts and combating drug abusers and addicts issues.
“As of today, three DAC centres are already officially functioning which are Tampin DAC, Melaka, Kuala Muda DAC, Kedah, and the DAC in NADA Headquarters as the pilot projects before expanding nationwide.
“As of January 14, 2025, a total of 732 OKTs have undergone the screening and assessment at these DACs,” he said while officiating the DAC in Headquarters, here on Thursday.
Also present was the Deputy Director-General (Operational) of NADA, Tuan Khairul Anwar Bachok.
