KUALA NERUS, April 18, 2025 – Support systems from significant others, such as families and communities, are a fundamental pillar in sustaining recovery efforts for individuals who have previously been involved in drug-related issues.
This was emphasized by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Dr. Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, during the “Meet and Greet Programme with NADA Clients: Togetherness as a Catalyst for Sustained Recovery” held in Gong Badak, Kuala Nerus, Terengganu.
He highlighted that support systems are one of the key factors determining the success of recovery, especially for clients of the National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA), whether they are part of the Institutional Treatment and Rehabilitation Programme (RPDI) or the Community-Based Treatment and Rehabilitation Programme (RPDK).
The programme focused on the importance of family and community support in the recovery journey of NADA clients. It also served as a crucial platform to build resilience, combat social stigma, and strengthen relationships between the Ministry, the agency, and its clients.
Furthermore, the event reflects NADA’s and the Ministry of Home Affairs’ ongoing commitment to providing a comprehensive and inclusive recovery ecosystem—anchored in compassion, well-being, and inclusivity—as promoted under the Malaysia MADANI agenda.
Also present were the Director-General of NADA, Dato’ Ruslin Jusoh; Chairman of the Committee on Welfare, Women’s Development, Family and National Unity, YB Maliaman Kassim; Former Chief Minister of Terengganu, Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman; and Dean of the Faculty of General Studies and Continuing Education at UniSZA, Associate Professor Dr. Abdullah Ibrahim.
