KUDAT, September 12, 2024 – The Deputy Director-General (Operations) of the National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA), Tuan Khairul Anwar Bachok, aims for Sabah NADA to expand the establishment of the Merpati Putih programme in every NADA District Office throughout the state.
He noted that this initiative is highly beneficial as it provides access to an alternative support network for their recovery and acts as a catalyst for change in addressing drug and substance abuse issues.
“I see the establishment of Merpati Putih very positively because it comprises former NADA clients who are now contributing their efforts to assist NADA in the recovery of those undergoing treatment and rehabilitation, whether in the community or institutions.
“It would be even better if we could expand the Merpati Putih program to other districts so that the role of this group can be broadened,” he said during his visit to the Kudat District NADA Office in Sabah on Thursday.
For the record, Merpati Putih is a group of former NADA clients who are now actively assisting NADA in volunteer work related to drug prevention and providing lifelong recovery support.
Also present were Sabah NADA Assistant Director (Treatment and Rehabilitation), Albert Tian, and Kudat District NADA Head, Fazilawati Aji.
