TAWAU, May 12, 2024 – More than 1,000 local residents participated in and celebrated the Fun Walk 10,000 Steps in conjunction with the National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA) Community Program around Tawau Town here.
The event, organised by Sabah NADA, was held in conjunction with the 2024 Anti-Drug Day Commemoration, following a route of approximately 8 kilometres around Tawau Town, starting from the Tawau Municipal Council grounds.
In addition to the fun walk, participants distributed drug addiction prevention information to the local community, aligning with the Anti-Drug Day theme “Prevention is Better.”
Earlier, Deputy Director General (Management), Puan Shobah Jamil, officiated the fun walk and later joined the activity.
Puan Shobah also engaged with the Tawau community, distributing information about the “Prevention is Better” campaign, “Drug Prevention Starts at Home,” and the NADA Hotline number for those seeking advisory assistance or reporting drug-related activities.
In addition to the fun walk, a range of events were organised over the course of two days, such as displays by federal and state authorities and departments, the Drug Prevention Education Carnival (PPDa), which included colouring competitions, doodle drawings, poetry recitation, solo parody singing, anti-drug songs and speeches. Also present were NADA Prevention Division Director, Zainudin Abdullah; NADA Treatment, Medication, and Rehabilitation Division Director, Siti Mariam Mursidan; Tawau Municipal Council President and Chairman of the Malaysian Drug Prevention Association (PEMADAM) Tawau District, Joseph Pang; and NADA Sabah State Director, Nani Sikin.
