KULIM, November 10, 2024 – The Handover and Inauguration of the Construction of a School Block and Karangan Narcotic Addiction Rehabilitation Center (PUSPEN) Renovation Ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Home Affairs, YB Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, on Sunday.

The ceremony was held as a reopening for Karangan PUSPEN which had been closed since December 1st, 2022, with the allocated budget of RM17 million.
Karangan PUSPEN now has the best facility to implement the Akses Pendidikan Klien (PAPK) Programme, which was introduced by NADA in 2015 for clients under the age of 18.
The objective of PAPK is to be an opportunity for the clients to resume learning and schooling sessions within NADA facilities while providing a treatment and recovery service with academic concepts through the in situ concept.Â

Other than that, the effort is also to enhance and celebrate the variety of expertise in introducing an integrity school system with the educators from the Ministry of Education (MOE) through a smart partnership of NADA with the ministry.
The academic achievements shown by the clients in the SPM will allow them to qualify for higher education opportunities.
The clients involved in the PAPK for the SPM level will be handled fully by voluntary educators, including Polytechnics lecturers and secondary school teachers from nearby schools.

The PAPK has also been expanded and does not only focus on the SPM level.
The effort is expanded to involve the 3M basic education (reading, writing, and counting) to consider the learning gaps faced by adolescent clients.
NADA also strengthened its collaboration with MOE to secure permanent placements for the teachers in this school.
For starters, the operation of Karangan PUSPEN School will utilize internal officers with educational qualifications.
Also present were the Secretary-General of MOHA, Datuk Awang Alik Jeman; Deputy Secretary-General (Security) of MOHA, Dato’ Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman; Deputy Secretary-General (Policy and Control) of MOHA, Datuk Makhzan Mahyuddin; NADA Director-General, Dato Ruslin Jusoh; Kedah Community Crime Prevention Department Chief, Datuk Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal; and NADA Deputy Director-General (Operations), Tuan Khairul Anwar Bachok.
